1. First, you’ll need installation media. I’m including a download link for SW2020 SP5.0, which is the complete file set in a large .zip file. Extract it and run the setup.exe application to begin the upgrade: https://trimech.sharefile.com/d-s7d07fcd5d1d42828

NOTE: If you run setup.exe and get a blank installation manager, you'll have to unblock an HTML file (this can happen as a security measure during the extraction process). In the installation media, go to sldIM > lang > English > HTML and right-click the frameset.html file. Choose "Properties" and click the option to unblock it. You can now run setup.exe without any issues.

2. You’ll want to upgrade the SolidNetWork License (SNL) Manager first, as this is what manages the licensing. When you’re ready, run the setup.exe application from the file set and choose Install Server Products > SolidNetWork License Manager as the product to install. Input your serial number (9010012104353041PV47JV3C) and click through the prompts to start the upgrade.

3. Toward the end of the upgrade, you’ll be asked for a server location. By default, this is 25734@<server computer name>, so make sure the name matches the machine where the SNL Manager is being upgraded (looks to be 25734@CM-FILE03). The upgrade should then complete after that.

4. Once upgraded, open the SNL Manager, where you’ll be prompted to activate (if not, go to the ‘Server Administration’ tab and click Modify > Activate/Reactivate Licenses). Check the box on the first window for ‘a firewall is in use’, as this opens another port of communication. On the next page, click ‘Select All’ for products to activate and then input your email address at the bottom (if necessary). This will activate the software, pull the licenses onto the SNL Manager, and start the service.

5. Now, you can upgrade SolidWorks on the client machines. Use the same setup.exe application, but choose Individual Installation as the product to install this time. Use the same serial number and click through the prompts to start the upgrade. You’ll be asked for the server location again, so make sure it matches what you used for the SNL Manager. Once the upgrade is complete, open SolidWorks to begin using it!
